Considering the transition to school to be a collaborative process that involves families, preschool and kindergarten teachers, afterschool staff, and other community providers, we produce materials that help our audience frame the transition as a shared endeavor.

Building Capacity for Family Engagement in the Early Education Field

Through a grant from the Heising-Simons Foundation we will use the Family Involvement Network of Educators (FINE) to create a robust, interactive platform for sharing research and promising practices about engaging families in young children's learning and development.

Office of Head Start National Center on Parent, Family, and Community Engagement (NCPFCE) (COMPLETED PROJECT)

NCPFCE is one of six centers that make up Head Start’s Training and Technical Assistance system and is a partnership between the Brazelton Touchpoints Center at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Family Research Project. Through this partnership, we developed research-informed resources (e.g., a webinar series and a research-to-practice resource) for the Head Start community.

Preschool for California's Children (COMPLETED PROJECT)

We evaluated the David and Lucile Packard Foundation’s 10-year grantmaking program to achieve voluntary quality preschool for all 3- and 4-year olds in California.

Family Involvement Storybook Project (COMPLETED PROJECT)

The Family Involvement Storybook Project uses children's storybooks with family educational involvement themes to boost young children's achievement. Access the resources created as part of this project by visiting the Storybook Corner.

Home Visit Forum (Completed Project)

The Home Visit Forum sought to increase delivery efficiency, develop practice benchmarks that could improve quality, and create a better understanding of the role that home visitation could play in state and national systems to help young children and their families.
